Canyoneering to Kawasan Falls In Badian, Cebu

Canyoneering to Kawasan Falls is definitely a must when in Cebu, Philippines. It is located in the southern part of the island. This adrenalin pumping tour is around 3 - 5 hours. It will start in the town of Alegria and end in Badian.

Kawasan Falls

In Alegria, it is easy to look for a guide on the spot but I recommend booking in advance to save time.

Our tour operator provided life vest, helmet and even rubber shoes. After the necessary preparations and orientation, we started the adventure with a 30 minute habal-habal ride to the mountain. Then we walked 15 to 30 minutes down the river. Surrounded by dense vegetation, the turquoise blue river revealed itself. Seeing how inviting the water was, made me very thrilled to jump in.

From here, the grouped followed the river downstream. The trail will require you to slide from rocks, float with the river current and jump from several cliffs ranging from 10 to 50 ft.

Curious about the 50ft jump? Then, close your eyes and picture this: You are standing on roots protruding on the side of a 50 foot cliff, trying to keep your balance. Steady! On your left is a majestic falls, water gushing down, and mist coming back up. Feeling its power by the vibrations in the ground and the thundering sound. An amazing view of a turquoise blue basin beneath the drop. From the distance, there are people watching, waiting for the jump. Your heart is pounding, knees trembling and your mind is chaotic. You take a deep breath to muster all the courage to take the leap… 1, 2, and… Would you do it? Would you jump?

After the 3rd major jump, we trekked downstream until we reached Kawasan falls. A massive horsetail falls with a 60ft drop into a wide basin. The tour lasted for about 5 hours.

Don’t worry. You won’t feel tired with all the adrenalin pumping and those magical scenes but for sure you’ll be hungry. Good thing there’s a restaurant beside the falls and Lunch is already included in the tour package.

We ended our action-packed adventure with a Kawasan Falls massage before heading back to Dumaguete for the swimming with turtles experience in Apo Island.
