Gear

All of the gears listed below were acquired over the course of my Youtube career. It is not wise to buy all of it in one go. Best is to start with what you have and gradually upgrade once you have a budget. Also, I am the type of person who will use the item as long as it serves its purpose. With this, I am able to maximize my investments. Below are my gears and my recommendations.

Cameras and Gadgets

 GoPro Hero 5 Black

This is my go-to camera in my travel and underwater adventures. My recommendation is if you plan to buy one, buy the latest model because it is built to last and you will have the latest features. Link here

Sony a6500 with kit lens

Acquired a mirrorless camera for a step-up in my content. Been using this as my main camera for over a year now. Bought this with 3 considerations in mind: First is budget – it is cheaper than Canon 80D. Second is frame-rates. It has 120fps in 1080 and 4k in 24fps. Lastly, it’s weight. There are newer models in a6 series that has an upgraded features and better for vlogging like a6400 and a6600. Link here for a6400, a6500, a6600

Joby Gorilla Pod 3K Pro Kit

This solve the issue of framing myself when vlogging. Also, versatile tool specially if you don’t want to carry a tripod or in a run and gun style of shooting. The quick release plate is useful from changing in a vlogging style to handheld shooting. The downside is that it is heavy if you’re using it for quite some time. But at the same time, the weight helps stabilize the camera when shooting. Perfect if you are using a mirrorless camera. Link here

Rode VideoMic Go

This is my mic for my a6500. Sound quality is awesome for a plug and play mic. One issue I noted is the static noise when used in places with high signal interference. What I suggest is buy the micro or the pro+.

Hoya Variable Neutral Density Filter

Most of my videos require me to go out when the sun is at its peak. This is the solution for those scene with harsh light. Link here

Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix GL502

Acquired this laptop last 2016. A gaming laptop and a beast in editing. It is way cheaper than Apple products in its tier. The downside, it is bulky and heavy. If you don’t mind the size and weight, link here.

Samsung T5 1TB Portable SSD

This is my storage for all of my content. I like how slim and tiny this portable SSD is. If you want one, link here.

Memory Cards

Do not buy sub-standard memory cards if you do not want corrupted data or choppy video clip. Only use the recommended memory cards for your cameras. I use Sandisk Extreme Pro for my GoPro and a6500.

Batteries

I only use branded batteries for my cameras. Cameras are expensive so you need to take care of it. Use only the recommended battery of the camera. Link here a6500 and GoPro.

GoPro Supersuit Dive Housing

This is a must when I am doing a water activity. I know GoPro is waterproof but I want extra protection for my camera. Link here.

logitech MX Vertical Ergonomic Wireless Mouse

I recommend this for people who are already experiencing wrist pain and for those who uses their computer on a regular basis and prolonged period. Ergonomics mouse ease wrist pain and prevents developing carpal tunnel. I’ve linked the site here.

Travel Essentials

Hydroflask

It is perfect for my adventure because it keeps my drink cold. Would definitely recommend this instead of buying bottled water. Indirectly you are helping the environment by reducing single use plastic. Link here.

Skross EVO Plus USB World Travel Adapter

This World Travel Adapter is important for international travelers. This is an old version but if you plan to buy one, I recommend the Pro Plus USB World Adapter Dual USB
