Manila Travel Guide
Manila offer plenty of options for food trips, hotel staycations, shopping, and weekend activities. Whether you're visiting the capital, planning a quick city break, or looking for a destination you can reach from Manila, there are different ways to make the most of your trip.
On KingTolentino.com, I share our restaurant finds, hotel experiences, food guides, and nearby destinations based on places we've actually visited. You'll also find practical tips to help you plan your next food trip or getaway.
Food Trips in Manila
One of the things I enjoy about exploring Manila is the variety of food choices. From local Filipino favorites to international restaurants and buffet experiences, there's always somewhere new to try.
If you're planning a food trip, start with our guides to restaurants, buffets, and popular dining spots around the metro.
Binondo Food Crawl
Binondo is one of the places to consider if you want to build an itinerary around food. Our Binondo Food Crawl guide brings together the stops and practical details to help you plan your visit.
Before heading out, check opening hours, prepare for walking, and allow time for queues at popular establishments.

Cakes, Desserts, and Sweet Stops
A food trip doesn't have to end with a main meal. Explore our Must-Try Cakes in Metro Manila guide for ideas on where to find cakes and desserts.

Hotels and Staycations
You don't always need to leave the metro to enjoy a quick break. A hotel staycation is a convenient option if you want to spend a night away from home, enjoy hotel facilities, or try a different dining experience without a long drive.
Lime Resort Manila
My experience: We tried Lime Resort Manila for a staycation, mainly because of its rooftop infinity pool overlooking Manila Bay. Our stay included a Deluxe Twin Room with a balcony and partial bay view, dinner at Bella Vita, a spa session, and breakfast at Bayside Buffet.
One of our favorite parts was enjoying the rooftop pool early in the morning, when it was less crowded. If you're considering a Manila staycation, read our full review for more details about the room, dining options, and hotel facilities. Here’s my detailed experience → Lime Resort Manila

Places to Explore Around Manila
Manila has historic neighborhoods, cultural landmarks, markets, and other places to explore beyond dining. Intramuros, Fort Santiago, and Binondo are examples of areas you can consider when planning a city visit.
I'll continue adding firsthand guides to the places we visit, with practical information to help you decide where to go and how to fit each stop into your itinerary.
Destinations Near Manila
If you're ready to get out of the city, there are beaches, islands, nature spots, and other destinations that make interesting trips from Manila. Travel time will depend on your destination, traffic, and transportation, so plan accordingly if you're going on a day trip.
Our guide, Destinations Near Manila You Probably Didn't Know, features places beyond the capital, including coastal destinations in Quezon Province. Some are better suited to an overnight stay than a quick day trip, especially when boat transfers or additional travel time are involved.
You can also explore our individual destination guides for more details about what to do, where to stay, and what to expect.
Exploring Manila with a Baby
If you're traveling around Manila with a baby, consider the walking distance between stops, access to changing facilities, and the availability of places to rest or feed your baby.
For food crawls and outdoor sightseeing, a baby carrier may be easier to manage in crowded areas or along routes with uneven sidewalks. A stroller can still be useful where the pathways are accessible.
Keep the schedule flexible and choose fewer stops if you're traveling with an infant. It's easier to enjoy a trip when you don't have to rush from one place to another.
Practical Tips for Exploring Manila
Plan around traffic: Allow extra travel time between neighborhoods, especially during peak hours.
Group nearby stops: Avoid crossing the city repeatedly if your itinerary includes several restaurants or attractions.
Check opening hours: Confirm schedules before setting out, particularly for food crawls.
Bring comfortable footwear: Some itineraries involve plenty of walking.
Check current prices: Restaurant menus, buffet rates, and admission fees can change.
