If you are craving the flavors of Japan, then this blog is for you.

I recently discovered that you can subscribe to a monthly snack box service from TokyoTreat or Sakuraco. These sister companies curates beautiful themed Japanese Snack boxes delivered straight to your doorsteps.

TokyoTreat and Sakuraco

TokyoTreat offers exclusive limited-edition Japanese snacks, showcasing the modern side of Japan. I got the Summer Matsuri Snackfest theme, a nod to Japan's vibrant summer Matsuri festival.

TokyoTreat snack box

TokyoTreat snack box includes 16 Japanese treats ranging from chocolates and cookies to rice crackers, and even a cup noodles. The unique ones are: Ramune Gummies, inspired by a classic summer drink at Matsuri, Kakigoori Jelly - inspired by the Japanese Shaved Ice and the Wasabi flavor Edamame Bites

My top pick from TokyoTreat snack box was the Chocolate Orange KitKats.

Moving to our second snack box, the Sakuraco leans more toward the traditional side of Japan. The box has a simpler design but it’s elegantly presented. The snack box is curated to showcase authentic Japanese sweets, teas and even a teacup.

Sakuraco snack box

This version focuses on Okinawa Prefecture. It features 12 different Japanese treats, including cookies, candy, crackers, peanuts and more.  While it only has 12 types of snacks, some items come in pairs.

Here are some of the snacks that stands out: Mango Agar Candy - a soft-textured bite sized mango flavored candy, the Okinawa Almond Caramel Cookie and Beni Imo Pie.

It also includes an authentic Japanese tableware, the one I got was a Minamikaze bowl.

My top pick for the Sakuraco was the Gorgonzola Nori Ten, a seaweed fried in tempura batter.

These limited-edition or seasonal boxes are well presented, each with its own theme or story. Every box includes a booklet. Reading through it while discovering new flavors feels like a guided tour. A simple yet wonderful way to fully appreciate each treat. You can tell that TokyoTreat and Sakuraco put a lot of time and effort into curating each box.

I think these snack boxes are perfect gift idea, a “pasalubong” for us Pinoys or even just a treat for yourself if you’re craving for authentic Japanese treats.
