GiraSol | Bed and Breakfast and Events Place in Tagaytay

Girasol is a bed and breakfast, restaurant and events place in Alfonso, Cavite. Situated just along Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, Girasol is easy to spot and very accessible even without car.

Before we proceed, here’s a little history about Girasol. I learned that Girasol is an Italian word for sunflower. Derived from 2 words: Girare or to turn + sole or the sun. The core value of Girasol is like a sunflower looking towards the sun, it focuses on what is positive and life-affirming – I also believe in this concept :D

The Great Room or the main dining area has modern interior, high ceiling, well-lighted and with plant accents. It is fully air-conditioned but they also have an al fresco section as well.

We started our Girasol dining experience with coffee while we check the menu.

Girasol offers a wide spread of cuisines, from Continental to Filipino dishes. Since they also promote wine to partner with the food, we decided to go with tapas, pizza and pasta.

Picked Salmon Falfal as our appetizers. Then we added Spicy Chorizo Croquettas under the tapas option.

Tried Lemon Scampi pasta as recommended by the staff.

Ordered Salmon Caviar because this is an unusual pizza flavor. This pizza is topped with thin slices of salmon, caviar and a blue flower petals.

We partnered the food with a glass of red wine – Lamadoro Primitivo.

While we ate lunch and drank wine, the chefs and staff surprised me with a birthday greeting and 2 complementary cakes – Ube Halaya Cheese Cake and Rosemary Crème Brulee.

After eating, the staff accompanied us to their wine cellar. It is also a function room and can be rented.

To summarize my Girasol dining experience – delicious dishes, amazing food presentation, decent serving size and price was a little bit on the expensive end. Aside from the great food, the staff were friendly, accommodating and provided an outstanding service. This made my Girasol dining experience better.

Recommendations: try their Salmon Caviar pizza and Salmon Falfal.

Tip: Great place for a date. We ate on a weekday and the restaurant only had a handful of customers. This is perfect if you are looking for a quiet and relaxed place to eat.
