Kalinto Resort, a luxury beach resort located in the sleepy town of Botolan, Zambales. The resort officially started operations on September 22, 2024, so it is still relatively new as of this writing.

The name “Kalinto” is derived from the Sambal word for dragonfly. Sambal is a local language mainly spoken by people in Zambales.

The Room

While Kalinto Resort offers a seaside villas with private pools, for this experience, we booked the Serenity King Room. Our room was located on the ground floor and near the entrance, making it pretty accessible, especially since we were traveling with a baby.

The Serenity King Room has a king-size bed, a bedroom chair, and a veranda. It comes with the standard room amenities you would expect from a resort, plus a spacious bathroom.

We also requested a crib during booking, and I was glad to see that they had already prepared it before our arrival. It may seem like a small detail, but I really appreciated it. It also shows that Kalinto Resort is well-prepared for families looking for a baby-friendly resort in Zambales.

Infinity Pool

One of the main amenities at Kalinto Resort is its infinity pool, located in front of the restaurant and bar.

The pool also has a kiddie pool section, which is a nice addition for families traveling with kids. I believe the deepest part of the pool is around 4 feet.

There are also several beach chairs and umbrellas around the pool area where guest can simply chill and enjoy the view.

The Beach

Let's go to the beach. The beach in Botolan, Zambales, or at least the on the ones I've visited, generally have sandy gray shores. Also, don't expect coral reefs or a snorkeling spot here either.

Depending on the season and weather conditions, the currents in this area can also be strong. If you're visiting with kids or a baby, I would be more cautious about swimming in the sea. I found the beach better suited for walking, enjoying the view, and relaxing by the shore rather than swimming.

Since Botolan is not yet as developed as some of the more popular beach destinations, you can still experience a raw and laid-back beach atmosphere. For me, that's part of its charm.

Food at Kalinto Resort

Another thing I wanted to highlight about Kalinto Resort is its restaurant. They have a decent selection of food and drinks. While we tried several items from their menu, here are some of my favorites:

For breakfast, try the Zambales Longanisa. It comes with garlic rice, 2 eggs and atchara on the side.

The Daing na Bangus was also a good option, as the serving size was quite generous.

For the veggies, I would recommend trying the Sizzling Tofu.

For the mains, go for the Chicken Kebab. We ordered the sharing option, which came with four huge chicken skewers. The chicken was tender, flavorful and a little peppery. A dish that will make you ask for extra rice.

Their Sinigang na Baboy is also a good option if you are craving something with sabaw. What I found interesting was that the pork was grilled, which gave the dish a slightly different flavor compared to the usual sinigang.

We also tried some of their desserts, and the one that stood out to me was the Mango Sago.

For coffee, their Mango Espresso is worth trying if you’re into cold refreshing coffee drinks (Forgot to take a photo though).

And if you’re lounging by the pool, a fresh fruit shakes is always a good choice.

Spa

Kalinto Resort also has a spa room with around five massage beds. You need to reserve in advance since their massage therapist are not “stay-in”.

A one-hour massage costs ₱1,250. The package includes washing your feet with a warm soapy water, their signature massage, and a cup of tea to complete the experience.

Gym

Kalinto Resort also has a gym guest can use. It has the standard gym equipment and it is air-conditioned.

Summary

For me, the infinity pool probably is one of the best parts of the resort. If you’re looking for a place to slow down and relax, you can easily spend most of the day here without having to do much.
The ambiance, amenities and the helpful and approachable staff made our stay in Kalinto Resort a memorable one.

Most of the resort still feels new, which makes sense since it only started operating late 2024. There are still a few ongoing developments around the property, but so far, the resort has managed to keep a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

Hopefully, it stays that way even as more people discover Kalinto Resort. For me, one of its biggest appeals is that it still feels like a beachside sanctuary. An ideal place to slowdown, reset, relax and recharge.

Recommendations: While Kalinto Resort offers tours and activities, I think this resort is best enjoyed by simply relaxing and lounging at their infinity pool. It is also a good option for families traveling with a baby or young kids because of its spacious property, kiddie pool, playground, and family-friendly amenities.

If you plan to go on a food trip, Café Servando is a few meters away from Kalinto Resort.
Kalinto Resort has a daily happy hour from 3-6PM.

Botolan Beach may not be ideal for babies and young kids, especially when the currents are strong. Always check the sea conditions before swimming.

Kalinto Resort is baby-friendly. The property is spacious and has a playground and a kiddie pool section. I also liked that the pool tiles aren't overly smooth, which can help reduce the risk of slipping for babies and toddlers. Still, always supervise children around the pool.
