Cavite
Tagaytay getaways, Silang restaurants, cafés, staycations and places worth exploring around Cavite.
Cavite is one of those places we can visit without planning a long trip from Manila. Sometimes it's for a weekend staycation in Tagaytay, sometimes it's to try a new restaurant in Silang, and sometimes it's simply a road trip with a few food stops along the way.
I've been visiting Tagaytay since I was young. I still remember when it had more of a sleepy-town vibe, with more trees than buildings along Aguinaldo Highway. A lot has changed since then, but it's still one of the places I enjoy returning to.
I've also explored Silang, particularly its restaurants and cafés along the Sta. Rosa–Tagaytay Road. It's worth looking beyond Tagaytay if you enjoy finding new places to eat and stopping by somewhere different during a road trip.
This page brings together my Cavite travel guides, restaurant reviews, café finds and accommodation experiences. Most of my current articles are around Tagaytay and Silang, and I'll continue adding more as we explore other parts of the province.

Tagaytay is a familiar choice for a quick getaway from Manila. You can visit for a food trip, book a staycation, enjoy the cooler weather, or look for places beyond the usual tourist stops.
I've put together several guides based on our trips, including places to stay, restaurants we've tried and some hidden gems around the area.

Silang, Cavite
Silang is worth exploring if you usually drive straight to Tagaytay without stopping along the way.
I've stayed in Silang and tried several restaurants and cafés around the area. Some of my food trips have taken us along the Sta. Rosa–Tagaytay Road, where you'll find a mix of local restaurants, cafés and other places worth checking out.

Hidden Gems and Places to Explore
I enjoy finding places that give a trip a little more character than simply visiting the usual tourist spots.
My Tagaytay hidden-gems guide shares some of the places we explored around the area. I've also visited Ilog Maria Honeybee Farm during our Silang trip.
These are good starting points if you want to make a few extra stops instead of heading straight to a restaurant or hotel.
I'll add more places here as we explore other parts of Cavite.

Most of my restaurant and café articles are around Tagaytay and Silang, so that's where I'd start if you're planning your own food trip.

Cavite DIY Travel Guides and Weekend Ideas
I usually prefer DIY trips because we can adjust the schedule depending on where we want to eat, how long we want to stay somewhere and whether we feel like adding another stop.
Here are a few ways to plan a trip using my existing guides:
Tagaytay food trip: Choose a restaurant or café, explore a few nearby places and enjoy a relaxed meal.
Tagaytay staycation: Book an overnight stay and leave enough time to enjoy the accommodation.
Silang food trip: Explore restaurants and cafés in Silang.
Silang with a Tagaytay side trip: Stay in Silang, explore the local area, then drive to Tagaytay for another meal or activity.
Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay food trip: Explore restaurants and cafés in Silang along the Sta. Rosa–Tagaytay Road.
Nuvali food trip: Explore restaurants and cafés in Nuvali
These are just starting points. I'd plan the actual stops around traffic, opening hours and the places we want to visit.

Cavite Travel Guide FAQ
-
Tagaytay and Silang are popular road-trip destinations for people coming from Metro Manila.
You can drive or take public transportation, depending on where you're headed. If you're driving on a weekend or holiday, allow extra time for traffic, especially around the main roads and busy dining areas.
My preferred route to Tagaytay is via SLEX, exiting at Mamplasan and taking CALAX toward Silang. From there, continue driving to Tagaytay. I find this route convenient when traveling from Metro Manila, but travel time may vary depending on traffic.
If you're planning to visit several restaurants or cafés, check their locations before leaving. Places along Sta. Rosa–Tagaytay Road can be spread out, and you'll have an easier trip if you group nearby stops together.
-
Your budget will depend on whether you're visiting for the day, going on a food trip or booking an overnight stay.
A simple day trip will cost differently from a resort stay or a meal at several restaurants. Accommodation, transportation and food will usually make the biggest difference.
Whenever I have actual figures available, the costs is included in my individual articles rather than give you one budget that may not fit every trip.
-
My current guides focus mainly on Tagaytay and Silang. Tagaytay is a good starting point for staycations, restaurants and weekend trips, while Silang is worth exploring for its restaurants, cafés and accommodation options.
-
Yes. Tagaytay is a city in Cavite and one of the main destinations covered in my Cavite travel guides.
-
If you enjoy food trips, cafés and relaxed road trips, Silang is worth exploring. I've visited the area for a staycation and tried several restaurants around Silang.
-
Yes. You can stay in one area and visit the other, depending on your plans. Just allow enough time for traffic and check the locations and opening hours of your chosen stops.
-
For a quick Tagaytay or Silang getaway, a day trip or an overnight stay may be enough. If you want to enjoy a resort, explore several restaurants and make multiple stops, staying overnight gives you more flexibility.
Traveling with a Baby in Cavite
Cavite is a convenient choice for a short family trip from Metro Manila, especially if you're planning to visit Tagaytay or explore the restaurants and cafés around Silang. You can enjoy a change of scenery without committing to a long road trip, and there are plenty of ways to keep the itinerary simple.
Still, traveling with a baby means thinking beyond the destination itself. Traffic, parking, walking conditions, feeding facilities, and your baby's nap schedule can all affect how much you enjoy the day.
-
Tagaytay is a popular option for a family day trip or overnight stay, while Silang offers restaurants, cafés, and places to explore at a more relaxed pace. You can visit either destination on its own or combine them in one trip, depending on your schedule.
However, don't assume that every restaurant or café has a nursing room, baby-changing station, or enough space for a stroller. If these facilities are important to you, contact the establishment before visiting.
For a more comfortable outing, consider visiting outside peak dining hours when possible. This may make parking and finding a suitable table easier, although weekends and holidays can still be busy
-
A stroller is handy in hotels, malls, and establishments with accessible pathways. But some restaurants and cafés have limited space, while outdoor areas may have uneven surfaces, steps, or sloping paths.
A baby carrier can be more convenient when moving between establishments or exploring places where a stroller is difficult to maneuver. If you plan to bring both, consider how much space you'll have in the car and whether you'll actually need the stroller throughout the trip.
-
If you're planning to stay overnight, check the hotel's room setup and facilities before booking. Ask whether a crib is available if you need one, and confirm any additional charges or requirements.
It's also worth considering the room's location, parking access, and distance from the restaurant or other facilities you'll use. If your goal is to rest, choose accommodation where you can spend a comfortable amount of time without needing to leave the property frequently.
-
Tagaytay is often associated with cooler weather than Metro Manila, but conditions can still change throughout the day. Bring extra clothing for your baby, check the forecast, and prepare for rain or strong sunlight depending on the season.
Traffic can also build up along popular routes, particularly on weekends and holidays. Give yourself extra travel time and avoid scheduling too many stops. If your baby needs a nap or feeding break, it's better to adjust your plans than rush to the next destination.
-
One of the nice things about exploring Cavite is that you don't need to plan a packed itinerary. You could visit a café in Silang, enjoy a meal in Tagaytay, or book an overnight staycation and take things slowly.
Before heading out, pack your baby's feeding supplies, diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes. Check whether your planned stops have the facilities you need, and know where the nearest medical services are in case you need them.
My tip: If it's your first time exploring Cavite with your baby, start with one or two stops instead of planning a full-day food trip. You can always explore more places on your next visit.
